GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. 网上有人说是因为执行了这个命令：

#chmod -R 0777 /tmp

在我的机器不是，是由于按默认路径手动升级了glibc2.7后的结果。

解决方法：

#rm -R *user*

再删除用户主目录下的.gnome2 和.gnome两个文件夹
