MAIN ENGINE
This vessel is designed to be used as a DP2 vessel although it has now been classed DP1 instead. Either way
it is expected to be used in conditions where the Captain is going to have to rely on the engines to perform
when he needs them first time. These engines replace the 300 series and are much more reliable and fuel
efficient. The X320 series diesel engines are four stroke, high pressure, medium speed and are used
throughout the world for their reliability.
This vessel is powered by twin X8320ZC6B which are eight cylinders in line engines with each cylinder
having a 320mm Bore x 380mm Stroke. They are rated at 4200 BHP ( 3088 Kw ) and operate at just
650rpm. This will allow the vessel to work at around 13 Knots when required. The power is transmitted
down through the Hangzhou Fada Reduction Gearboxes down the shafts to the two Suzhou Marine 4 blade
controllable pitch propellers.
