Leading In and Exploring the Topic
Prepare a PPT with the exercise of Exploring the Topic on
P45 of SB.
Ask the Ss to match the pictures with the statements.
Section A Reading Through
Write the following 3 questions on board:
1) Do you often use any chat tools such as QQ, Wechat, and
MSN to make new friends?
2) How useful and important are these high-tech products in
your life?
3) What are the troubles that these high-tech products have
brought to you?
4) What would life be like if these high-tech products had not
been invented or
Allow the Ss 5 minutes to discuss the questions on the board
in groups of four. When time is up, ask some representatives
to share the ideas of their groups with the whole class.
Let the class read aloud Text A, in different group
is the narrator, the second group is “I”, another group is Paul.

Give the Ss 5 minutes to review Text A and then finish the

Highlight some difficult sentences and elicit explanations
from students and give helps where necessary.
Basic Writing Skills
Prepare a PPT with sentences of the exercise on P62 of SB.
Ask some students to tell their answers to the class and
explain why.
Check the understanding of the class by explaining the
examples given on P62 of SB.
Section B Reading More
Ask the students to read and be familiar with the content of
Text B.
Pair up the Ss in class and allow them 10 minutes to discuss
the following questions:
1) How frequently do you check on your cell phone?
2) What are the advantages of iPad?
3) Can you imagine what life would be like if these high-tech
products had not been made?
