Unit 2: My Day
Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 7th grader at Sunshine
Middle School. In this essay, I'm going to tell you all about a
typical day in my life. Get ready for an exciting journey!
My day usually starts around 6:30 AM. The annoying buzzing
of my alarm clock wakes me up. I hit the snooze button a few
times before finally forcing myself out of my warm, cozy bed. The
first thing I do is head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and
wash my face. Looking in the mirror, I try to tame my wild bed
head hair. Once I'm somewhat presentable, I go back to my room
to get dressed for school.
Next up is breakfast - the most important meal of the day!
My mom is an amazing cook. She always prepares a nutritious
and delicious breakfast for me. Sometimes it's congee with
pickled vegetables, other times it's fried eggs with tomatoes and
green onions. No matter what, it gives me energy to power
through my morning.
After gulping down breakfast, I quickly pack up my backpack.
I make sure I have all my books, notebooks, pencils, and
anything else I might need for my classes that day. The last thing
I grab is my lunchbox which my dad so lovingly prepares for me
every morning. He makes the best egg salad sandwiches!
By 7:30 AM, I'm out the door and walking the few blocks to
school. I love getting a head start on my day by walking instead
of driving or taking the bus. The fresh air wakes me up and the
exercise is good for me. On my walk, I sometimes meet up with
my best friend Amy and we chat about the latest movies, music,
TV shows, etc.
I arrive at school around 7:50 AM which gives me plenty of
time before the first bell at 8:15 AM. I go to my locker to drop off
my backpack and jacket. Then I head over to the playground to
hang out with my friends. We play games like four square or just
sit around gossiping. The morning playground time is one of my
favorite parts of the day!
The bell rings and it's time for my first class - math. Math has
never been my strongest subject but I'm working really hard this
year. After math, I have English which is much more my cup of
tea. I love reading novels, writing stories, and learning about
