My Amazing Summer Vacation
Summer vacation is the best time of the year! No more
waking up early, no more homework, and no more tests. Just fun
in the sun all day long! This summer was one of the most exciting
summers I've ever had. I got to go on a really cool trip with my
family, and I also did lots of fun activities at home too. Let me tell
you all about it!
At the start of summer, my parents surprised me and my
little brother Sam with a big announcement - we were going to
Hawaii for our summer vacation this year! I had never been to
Hawaii before, so I was super duper excited. I couldn't wait to see
the beautiful beaches, go swimming in the ocean, and try all the
yummy Hawaiian foods like poke bowls and shave ice.
The morning we left for our trip, I could barely sleep the
night before because I was so hyped up. We had to wake up at
3am to get to the airport on time for our flight. Even though it
was stupid early, I didn't even feel tired at all. I was just bouncing
off the walls with anticipation and excitement.
The plane ride felt like it took forever, but it was okay
because I had a movie loaded up on my tablet to watch. Sam got
bored halfway through and started kicking the seat in front of
him, so Mom had to confiscate his games to make him chill out.
Little brothers can be so annoying sometimes!
Finally after what felt like an eternity, the pilot announced we
were beginning our descent into Honolulu. I pressed my face up
against the window and got my first glimpse of the bright blue
ocean and lush green mountains. "Hawaii here we come!" I
shouted maybe a little too loudly, earning me a stern look from
the lady sitting next to me. Oops, my bad!
As soon as we got off the plane, I could feel the warm humid
air and smell the intoxicating floral scents. This was going to be
the vacation of a lifetime, I could just feel it in my bones. Our
hotel was right on the beach, with a huge pool shaped like a lava
flow. The first thing Sam and I did was cannonball into the pool
fully clothed. Mom and Dad just rolled their eyes at us - they're
used to our goofy antics by now.
Over the next week, we spent every day either at the beach
swimming, snorkeling, and building crazy sandcastles, or we
