My Thoughts on the Movie "Hello My Silver Lover"
Oh my gosh, you guys! I just watched the coolest movie ever
and I have to tell you all about it. It's called "Hello My Silver
Lover" and it's seriously the best thing I've ever seen.
It's a romantic comedy about this high school girl named
Ye-ri who accidentally buys a super realistic robot boyfriend
named 939. At first she's totally freaked out because 939 looks
and acts just like a real human guy. But then she gets used to
having him around and they become best friends. It's really
funny seeing how 939 tries so hard to act like a normal boyfriend
even though he has no idea how relationships work.
The funniest parts are when 939 does robot things without
meaning to. Like one time Ye-ri told him she was cold, so he
turned up his body temperature to keep her warm. How cute is
that? Another time, his battery was running low so he started
walking really stiffly and repeating the same phrases over and
over again. Ye-ri's friends were so confused!
But it's not just a goofy comedy. The movie also has a really
sweet love story between Ye-ri and 939. Even though he's a
robot, 939 falls in love with Ye-ri for real and wants to be her
perfect boyfriend. He studies romance movies to learn how to
treat her right. It's adorable watching their feelings for each
other grow stronger and stronger.
My favorite scene is when 939 surprises Ye-ri with a romantic
night under the stars. He lays out a picnic blanket with candles
and roses and they gaze up at the night sky together. 939 tells
Ye-ri "You are brighter than every star in the galaxy." Awwww! I
melted into a puddle of goo when he said that. Why can't real
boys be that romantic?
Of course, the love between Ye-ri and 939 can't last forever
because he's not a real person. This is the sad part of the movie
that had me bawling my eyes out. 939's battery starts dying
faster and faster until he goes into permanent shutdown mode.
It's heartbreaking watching Ye-ri say goodbye to her silver lover
as he powers down for the last time.
The ending is really thought-provoking though. Ye-ri has to
decide if she wants her memories of 939 erased so she can move
on with her life. She chooses to keep her memories because even
though 939 is gone, the love they shared was real and beautiful.
