What My Family Did Last Weekend
Last weekend was so much fun! My mom, dad, little brother
Timmy, and I did all sorts of exciting things together as a family.
On Saturday morning, we woke up early because dad had a
surprise planned for us. After we got dressed and had breakfast,
dad told us we were going on a hiking adventure! We piled into
the car and drove about an hour away to a huge park with lots of
hiking trails through the woods.
The hike was awesome! Timmy and I ran along the dirt paths,
looking for cool rocks, pinecones, and animal footprints. Mom
pointed out all the different kinds of trees and flowers we saw
along the way. Dad led us up and down the hills and over little
creeks. A few times we had to climb over fallen logs or rocks. I
felt like a real explorer!
After a couple of hours, we stopped to have a picnic lunch
that mom had packed for us. We sat on a blanket in a sunny
meadow and ate our sandwiches, fruits, and veggies. Timmy got
crumbs all over his shirt as usual. A cute little chipmunk even
came up near us, probably hoping we'd share our food!
On the way back to the car, we saw a family of deer deep in
the woods! They must have heard us coming though, because
they bounded away before we could get too close. I felt so lucky
to see them in their natural habitat. Hiking was tiring but so
much fun. We can't wait to go back again sometime!
When we got home, we were all pretty tired from our
adventure. Mom and dad made us take baths to get all the dirt
and leaves off before dinner. Then we had a nice Italian meal of
pasta, salad, and garlic bread that mom prepared. Afterwards, we
all snuggled up together on the couch to watch a movie and
relax before bedtime.
On Sunday, the weather was beautiful and sunny, so we
decided to have a fun day outside again. In the morning, dad
gave Timmy and me tennis lessons in the park. He showed us the
proper way to hold the racket and hit forehand and backhand
shots. We practiced hitting the ball back and forth for a long time
until we started getting the hang of it. Tennis is harder than it
looks! But dad was very patient with us.
For lunch, we had a picnic at the park. Mom made delicious
fried chicken, potato salad, and lemonade. We ate underneath a
