Part 19 - Motion Fatigue
Preparation
1) Under “Training Project”, create “Motion Fatigue” subdirectory
2) Copy and model file, motion input file
from “Motion” directory to “Motion Fatigue” directory.
3) Copy from “Spectral FatigueFatigue” directory to “Motion Fatigue”
directory and rename to FTG.
Modifying motion input file for creating transfer function load cases
On motion options line, change Load Generation Option from WS to SL, this will enable the
motion program generates real and imagery RAO loads for transfer function.
Delete all wave spectral density WSPEC lines and wave spectrum load case WSLOD lines.
Change barge speed BSPEED line to only include barge speed = 4 knots.
The motion input file generated for motion fatigue shall looks like following

Motion Fatigue - 1
Create motion wave load run file and run the analysis.
The generated OCI file ALOAD contains real and imagery load cases,
total load case number shall be 43 x 2 x 3 direction = 258 load cases.
Create linear static analysis run file and solve the generated real and imagery loads.
Perform linear static analysis and solve the generated OCI file ALOAD
for fatigue analysis.
Modifying fatigue input FTG file for fatigue analysis
Fatigue options line:
Chang number of additional postfile = 0;
Chang design life to 40 years;
Delete fatigue time period;
Delete all joint overrides;
Change group selection line to remove member group CAN from fatigue analysis.
Change joint selection line, remove 401L to 407L, add 101L to 107L.
Delete SCF selection line.
All three spectral wave fatigue case FTLOAD lines need to be modified to select R+I for
cyclic stress option, to add wave directions 90.0, 135.0 and 180.0 correspondingly.
The fatigue input file generated for motion fatigue shall looks like following

Preparation

Motion Fatigue - 1
