Wuhan, Different Every Day

Wuhan is a city built by the Yangtze River and the Hanshui River.

The ever flowing river water nourishes the Wuhan people who are warm,

kind-hearted, straightforward, generous, honesty, and indomitable, cultivates the

city gene of “innovation, progress, and change”, and develops the city spirit of

Wuhan of “Dare to be the first and pursue excellence”.

“If we can develop in one day, then we should develop every day and keep

doing that”. Tang, the first emperor of Shang Dynasty, adopted the maxim and

asked people to carve it on the bathtub, with which he wanted to inspire himself to

make innovations every day. Panlongcheng(Panlong City), an archaeological site,

the root of Wuhan, rose up in the central China, which witnessed the innovations

of the Shang people during this period. Over 3,500 years, the boundary walls of

the city were damaged and rebuilt again, but people in Wuhan became stronger

and stronger after suffering from setbacks, and the city was filled with vigor.

Since modern times, Wuhan is ever progressing. Wuhan witnessed Zhang

Zhidong’s New Deal, the Wuchang Uprising of Xinhai Revolution, which ended

the feudal monarchy, the construction of key industrial base for the People’s

Republic of China, the construction of the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge which is

also called the First Bridge over the Yangtze river, pilot reform of urban economic

system, building of a resource-conserving and environmental friendly society, and

the national independent innovation demonstration zone at Optics Valley of

China…

A city becomes great for its dream. With the glory and dream of building

Wuhan into a national key city, millions of Wuhan people contribute their endless

power to promote the revival and rise of Greater Wuhan.

Wuhan is a big-hearted, indomitable, inclusive, and ever-changing city. With

endless innovation and energy, it continuously pursues and develops.
