Being a Soldier When I Grow Up
Hi! My name is Tommy and I'm 8 years old. Today I want to
tell you about what I want to be when I grow up - a soldier! I
think being a soldier would be the coolest job ever.
First of all, soldiers get to wear really awesome uniforms.
They have camouflage patterns to help them blend in with their
surroundings. The uniforms also have lots of pockets to carry
important gear and supplies. And they get to wear cool hats and
boots too! I would look so tough in an army uniform.
Second, soldiers are real heroes who protect our country and
keep people safe. They have to be very brave to go into
dangerous situations and fight against bad guys. I saw a movie
once about soldiers going on secret missions behind enemy lines.
It looked so exciting! As a soldier, I could travel all around the
world on top secret assignments. How amazing would that be?
Another reason I want to be a soldier is because they get to
use all sorts of awesome equipment and weapons. I'm talking
about tanks, helicopters, jets, missiles, grenades, machine
u name it! Getting to operate that kind of heavy
machinery would be a dream come true. I love playing video
games with tanks and fighter jets blasting everything. As a real
soldier, I could do that for my job!
Being physically fit is also important for soldiers. They have
to be strong and do lots of training exercises like running,
push-ups, and climbing obstacles. I would get super muscular
from all that working out. Maybe I could even be a Special Forces
soldier doing crazy stunts! Those guys are the toughest of the
tough.
Of course, being a soldier is also very dangerous and scary at
times. Soldiers sometimes get hurt or injured in combat. They
have to spend long periods away from their families when
deployed overseas. And it's probably pretty gross eating rations
and not showering for days. I'm not looking forward to those
parts. But I think the rewards of serving my country would make
it all worth it in the end.
In summary, I hope you can see why I want to be a soldier
when I grow up. They get to wear cool camo, be a hero, use
