How To Install HP JetDirect Printers For Océ Color Copy-4770/80 Color Scanner Under Windows
9x/NT 4
Connecting HP DesignJet networked printers or use of HP JetDirect network print boxes require
installation of HP JetAdmin software. This software is not available from Océ but the most recent
version of JetAdmin is available at . These instructions come from R4.3
This software contains the drivers needed for direct scan-to-print over a network.
1. Install the HP JetAdmin Software For JetDirect Print Servers by following the HP instructions.
2. Click START|SETTINGS|PRINTERS, double click
3. Select local or My Computer printer, click
.

5. Highlight HP JetDirect Port. If this option is not in the list, reinstall HP JetAdmin Drivers.

7. In the first menu for the JetDirect Wizard, select EASY SETUP and click

workstation. Intermediate hubs, switches, routers, bridges or other servers will not allow the

workstation to receive the JetDirect or Network printer broadcast messages. Therefore, this search
option will not show the printer.
Try clicking the button. The HP software will try to find the printer.
If this fails, specify the printer name and IP address manually by selecting TCP/IP Printer under
PROTOCOL and TCP/IP ADDRESS under MANUALLY SPECIFY PRINTER and typing in the
appropriate IP address.

8. If the automatic search (
configuration is correct, the dialogue box below will show. Type in an appropriate printer port label
that will identify the port.

9. Once returned to the WinNT or Win9x PRINTER PORTS dialogue box, the following dialogue box
will be displayed, click

10. Select the port just established, click
11. In the Manufacturer/Model dialogue box, select GENERIC in the left pane and GENERIC/TEXT
ONLY in the right windowpane. Océ Color Copy does not require a printer-specific printer driver.
Click
12. Select an appropriate name for the printer. This is what users will see in the Printers folder as
well as in applications.

13. Select SHARED and use the same Printer name you used in Step 12 in this step.
If the printer is not shared, Océ Color Copy cannot access it.

14. Do NOT print a test page- the Generic Text driver will not print under this configuration.

15. The new network-port and printer driver are now installed.
Click START|SETTINGS|PRINTERS

Right click on the new printer driver, go to PROPERTIES and left click
Verify scheduling options are set as shown below
16. Configure Océ Color Copy to connect to the new printer:
