My Awesome Summer Vacation
Summer vacation is the best time of the year! No school, no
homework, just fun in the sun all day long. This summer was one
of the most exciting ever. I went on so many adventures and did
tons of cool things. Let me tell you all about it!
The vacation started out with a bang - literally! On the 4th of
July, my family and I went to the big fireworks show downtown.
The colorful explosions lighting up the night sky were so
beautiful. I loved the smiley face one that looked like it was
winking at me. We had a picnic dinner of hot dogs, apple pie,
and lots of other yummy food. Laying on the blanket, stuffed
from eating too much, I watched the grand finale fireworks
display and thought about all the fun to come over the next few
months.
A couple weeks later, we went on our biggest trip of the
summer - a week-long camping adventure! We drove way up
into the mountains to this awesome campground next to a
pretty blue lake. Pitching the tent was harder than I thought, but
I helped as much as I could. Daddy ended up redoing it after I
got all the pole things twisted. Whoops!
Camping was a total blast. We went hiking, built campfires,
and made s'mores every night. One day, we rented a little
motorboat and drove around the lake. Watching for fish was
neat, and we saw a beaver slap its tail on the water! I jumped so
high, I nearly fell out of the boat. Another day, we went on a
realllllly long hike up the mountain. My legs were screaming by
the end, but the view from the top was worth it. You could see
forrrreevvverrr!
Towards the end of the week, the camp ranger showed us
how to make charcoal animal faces. I picked a bunny and it
turned out so cute. We got to keep them as souvenirs. My bunny
sits on my dresser as a reminder of the awesome time camping. I
can't wait to go again next summer!
After camping, we had a week at home to recover. I played
lots of video games, chilled in the pool, and oriented myself to
my new sleep schedule - staying up uuuber late and sleeping in
forever. Those are the perks of summer!
Then it was off to the beach for a few days. We stayed at a
hotel right on the sand. My sister and I had a balcony view of the
