Describe a time that you saved money for something
You should say:
When it was
Why you saved money
How much you saved
How you felt about it
The experience I am going to talk about is that I saved money for a Walkman,
which is a small equipment to play music, a little bigger than the cellphone. With it,
you can listen to music anywhere at any time.
That is about 11 years ago, when I was in the secondary school. At that time,
cellphone was still a luxury that few people could afford, and Mp3 player was very
rare. If people wanted to listen to music, they were likely to turn to the big tape
recorder. If you had a Walkman then, you were standing at the edge of fashion and
would attract huge attention in the campus.
I always wanted one. But since it was not relevant to my study, it was almost
impossible to get sponsorship from my parents. So I decided to save money by
myself. This article is from Laokaoya website. Do not copy or repost it. I cut off all
the non-essential spending, stopped attending any social activity that might cost
money, and reduce my food budget from 20 RMB a day to 15 RMB.
3 months later, I saved about 600 yen, just enough to buy the Walkman. That
weekend, I went to the shopping mall and got what I wanted. The moment I
opened the box, I felt a great sense of satisfaction. Everything I had suffered finally
paid off.
