I Really Really Like Sports!
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 9 years old. Today I want
to tell you all about how much I love sports. Sports are the best! I
play lots of different sports and they make me super happy.
My favorite sport is soccer. I've been playing soccer since I
was 5 years old. I love running up and down the field, dribbling
the ball with my feet. It's so much fun to try and score goals! My
team is called the Red Rockets and our uniforms are bright red
shirts and shorts. I'm a forward, which means my job is to try and
kick the ball into the other team's net. Scoring a goal feels
amazing! Sometimes I'll kick the ball so hard that the goalie can't
even stop it. Then all my teammates cheer and give me high fives.
Soccer helps keep me fit and fast on my feet.
Another sport I really enjoy is basketball. I'm quite tall for my
age so I can reach up nice and high to shoot hoops. Dribbling the
basketball down the court is trickier than you might think! You
have to bounce it perfectly or you might lose control. But when
you finally get close to the basket hing beats the
feeling of watching the ball swish through the net. My basketball
team is called the Dunkers and we have blue and white uniforms.
I love the sound of squeaking sneakers as we run across the
court. Basketball is a great way to stay active and have fun with
friends.
In the summer, I go to camp and get to play all sorts of cool
sports. My favorite is baseball! There's something so satisfying
about holding the bat and hitting that ball as hard as you can.
Running around the bases feels like flying. You have to be super
fast so the other team doesn't get you out. I'm a decent pitcher
too - I can throw the ball pretty quickly for a kid my age.
Whenever I'm up to bat, I dig my feet into the dirt and stare
really hard at the pitcher. Then I swing with all my might! The
crack of the bat is one of the best sounds ever. Baseball teaches
you hand-eye coordination and how to be a team player.
At camp we also play tennis, volleyball, u
name it! I love trying new sports. Tennis is hard because you have
to swing the racket just right to hit that little ball. But it's really
rewarding when you manage to smash it over the net.
Badminton is cool because the birdie seems to float in the air. In
volleyball you get to spike the ball down onto the other team's
