My Summer Vacation

Last summer was the best summer ever! I had so much fun

and did a lot of awesome things. First of all, my family went on a

big trip to California. We drove all the way there from Chicago in

our minivan. It took forever - like 3 days of driving! But it was still

really cool.

When we got to California, we went to Disneyland first. I

loved Disneyland so much! We went on tons of rides like Space

Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. My

favorite was probably Space Mountain because it was so fast and

felt like you were flying through outer space. We also met a

bunch of Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck,

and Goofy. I got my picture taken with them and they signed my

autograph book.

After Disneyland, we drove down the coast to San Diego. We

visited the world-famous San Diego Zoo. They had every kind of

animal you can imagine there - lions, tigers, bears, elephants,

giraffes, and more! My favorite animals were probably the polar

bears because they were so cute playing in the water. I also loved

watching the penguin show where the trainers made them do

funny tricks.

Then we headed up the coast to Los Angeles. In LA, we went

on a tour of the Hollywood studios where they make movies and

TV shows. I got to see props and sets from some of my favorite

shows! We also went down the Walk of Fame and saw all the

celebrity handprints and footprints outside the Chinese Theater.

That was really neat. One of the highlights was going to the

beach in Malibu. The water was freezing cold but the waves were

perfect for bodyboarding and bodysurfing.

On the way home, we stopped in Las Vegas for a night. It

was crazy driving down the Strip with all the bright lights and

huge hotels and casinos. Everything looked like it wasn't real! We

did the rides at the top of the Stratosphere Tower which was kind

of scary but a lot of fun. We also saw an amazing magic show

one night with lasers, pyrotechnics, and incredible illusions.

When we finally made it back home to Chicago, I was

exhausted from our huge road trip but it was totally worth it. We

made so many great memories as a family. I got to experience so

many cool places and do awesome things. It will be hard to top

that for summer vacation next year! I'm already counting down

the days until summer though so I can go on another epic

adventure.

My Wonderful Family Vacation

Last summer, my family went on the best vacation ever! We

saved up money for a whole year to go to Hawaii. I was so

excited because I had never been anywhere tropical before.

We left home early one morning and drove to the airport. I

had never flown on a plane before, so I was a little nervous. But

my mom said not to worry, that flying is very safe. The plane ride

took about 6 hours from our city. I watched movies and played

games on the little screen on the back of the seat in front of me.

The flight attendants gave us snacks and drinks too.

When we finally landed in Hawaii, it was already warm and

sunny outside. Palm trees were waving in the breeze. I could

smell the ocean air. Our hotel was right on the beach, with bright

blue water and golden sand. I rushed to put on my swimsuit so I

could go play in the waves!

Over the next week, we did so many fun activities as a family.

We went snorkeling and saw colorful fish and coral. We hiked

through a lush rainforest. We attended a luau and watched hula

dancers move gracefully to the sound of drum beats. We relaxed

on the beach, built sandcastles, and played beach volleyball. My

little brother and I had a contest to see who could find the most

interesting seashells.

My favorite day was when we went on a boat tour around

the island. The captain let me steer the boat for a few minutes!

We saw waterfalls, sea turtles swimming nearby, and even a pod

of dolphins jumped out of the water. Later that night, we made

s'mores around a beach bonfire and looked up at the millions of

bright stars in the clear night sky.

One afternoon, we drove up to the top of a tall mountain to

go ziplining through the trees. I was a little scared at first, but

then I realized how much fun it was to go soaring between the

trees and over the valleys below. What an amazing view!

On our last day, we didn't want to leave paradise. But we

took one final walk on the beach and played in the ocean waves.

We bought souvenirs like seashells, Hawaiian print shirts, and

chocolates to remind us of our trip.

The flight home felt twice as long, but I kept myself busy by

journaling about our adventures. I was sad to leave Hawaii, but

so grateful we got to experience it together as a family. We made

so many wonderful memories that I'll never forget. I'm already

dreaming about where we'll go next year!

My Summer Vacation Adventures

Summer vacation is the best time of the year! School is out,

the weather is warm, and there is so much fun to be had. This

past summer was full of exciting adventures that I'll never forget.

It all started on the first day of summer break. My family and

I went on a camping trip to the mountains. We pitched our tent

near a beautiful lake surrounded by tall pine trees. In the

morning, we went hiking and saw lots of cool plants and animals

like wildflowers, chipmunks, and even a family of deer! At night,

we made s'mores around the campfire and gazed at all the

bright stars in the night sky. Camping was such an amazing way

to experience nature.

A few weeks later, my parents surprised me and my little

brother with a trip to an amusement park! We rode so many

awesome roller coasters - some went upside down, some were

really fast, and others were just wildly loopy. My favorite was the

huge roller coaster that did a couple loop-de-loops. I wasn't

scared at all, but my brother got a little queasy! We also went on

other fun rides like the Tilt-a-Whirl, Scrambler, and Ferris Wheel.

Playing games to win prizes was really fun too. I came home with

a huge teddy bear!

About halfway through the summer, my family went to the

beach for a week. We stayed in a beachy cottage right near the

ocean. Every morning, I would wake up to the relaxing sound of

crashing waves. We spent our days swimming, boogie boarding,

making sandcastles, and searching for seashells. One afternoon,

we took a boat tour and went whale watching! We saw a few

giant humpback whales breach the surface which was incredible.

In the evenings, we'd take walks along the beach and watch the

beautiful sunsets. I loved the salty air and warm sea breezes.

Towards the end of summer, my aunt and uncle visited us

from another state. They took us to a waterpark which was a total

blast! There were huge twisting waterslides, a giant wave pool, a

lazy river to float along, and many other wild water rides. My

uncle and I competed to see who could go down the largest

waterslides the most times. He ended up winning, but just barely!

We also played lots of fun outdoor games in our backyard like

cornhole, badminton, and frisbee. One night, we had a big

backyard barbecue and ran through the sprinklers after we ate.

On the last week before school started, we didn't go

anywhere special but I still had an awesome time. My friends and

I rode our bikes all around the neighborhood. We set up

lemonade stands and made silly home movies together. We

played endless rounds of our favorite board and video games.

We even went explorering in the woods near my house and built

a cool fort out of sticks and leaves. My mom took us to the pool

almost every afternoon that week to soak up those last bits of

summer freedom.

Aahhh it was such an fun-filled, action-packed, adventurous

summer! I made so many wonderful memories that I'll reminisce

about all year long. As much as I love summer vacation, I actually

am looking forward to going back to school. I miss my teachers,

my classmates, and my favorite subjects like science and art.

Sixth grade is going to be the best year yet - I can't wait!

My Summer Vacation

Wow, where do I even start? This was the best summer ever!

I had so much fun and did tons of awesome things. Let me tell

you all about it.

It started off with the last day of school. I was super excited

for summer to begin. No more waking up early, no more

homework, and two whole months of freedom! On that last day,

my teacher Mrs. Henderson reminded us that we needed to read

a lot over the summer to avoid the "summer slump" where you

start forgetting stuff you learned. I told her not to worry because

I always read a bunch over the summer anyway.

The first week was pretty relaxing. I slept in late every day

and played lots of video games. My mom kind of got annoyed

with me though and said I couldn't just veg out for 2 months

straight. She signed me up for the town summer day camp for 3

weeks in July. I wasn't super thrilled about it at first, but it ended

up being a total blast!

At camp we went on fun field trips every week. One week we

went to the Amazing Maze, which is this huge maze made out of

corn stalks. It was so hard to find our way out! Another week we

toured a chocolate factory and I won the contest for who could

identify different chocolate blocks just by smelling them. My

prize was a huge chocolate bar!
