Teaching aims:

students to obtain key information on different environmental issues

such as climate change and air pollution from the listening material.

students to identify expressions used to introduce environmental

issues.

students to express your ideas on the causes of environmental problems

by using expressions of giving opinions and reasons.

the information in this unit to contribute to your awareness and

understanding of important environmental issues that affect the world and your

futures.

Teaching key points:

1. Help students to obtain key information on different environmental issues

such as climate change and air pollution from the listening material.

2. Help students to use the expressions in the listening text to express air

pollution and solutions.

Teaching difficult points:

1. Enable students to catch the key information of the listening material.

2. Enable students to express their ideas on the causes and solutions of air

pollution and learn from them with the help of the target vocabulary and

expressions.

Teaching procedures:

Step Ⅰ Lead-in

Look at the pictures and discuss the questions in groups

information can you get from these pictures?

do these situations influence your life?

Suggested answers:

’s smog in the coal is burning and the sky is not air is

polluted.

are harmful to our environment and health,and also have a bad influence

on our example,people have to take face masks when they go outdoors.

StepⅠ Pre-listening

Activity 1 Discuss in your groups and answer the questions

“smog” a main source of pollution?

Suggested answers:

is a kind of dirty air that looks like a mixture of smoke and fog,caused by

smoke from cars and factories in cities.
