The Best Days of My Life (So Far!)
Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 8 years old. I may be
just a kid, but I've already experienced some of the best days of
my life at university. That's right, university! I know it sounds
crazy for someone my age, but let me tell you all about it.
It all started when my big sister Emily went off to study at a
huge school called Harvard. My parents took me along when we
dropped her off at her dorm room. As soon as I stepped onto the
beautiful green campus with its big old brick buildings and kids
everywhere, I fell in love. "This is the place for me!" I thought to
myself.
Emily got settled into her tiny little room and then gave us a
tour of the whole campus. I couldn't believe how many libraries,
laboratories, cafeterias, and other amazing facilities they had. We
visited the gymnasium which had a gigantic pool, basketball
courts, climbing walls - you name it! Then we saw the concert
hall where musicians perform and the theaters where they put on
plays. It was all so exciting.
When we went to the classroom buildings, I stared in awe at
the huge lecture halls filled with hundreds of students watching
their professors talk. In one classroom, I actually raised my hand
and asked the teacher a question about dinosaurs, since that's
my favorite subject. She was really nice and took the time to give
me a detailed answer!
As we wandered around more, I turned to my parents and
pleaded "Pretty pretty please, can I pleeeease go to university
here too?" They just laughed and said I had to wait a few more
years. But I was absolutely determined.
A few months later, my parents were looking into summer
camps to keep me busy during the school break. That's when I
learned that Harvard (and many other universities) offer fun
academic camps for kids! You take courses during the day and
stay in the dorms just like the university students. My eyes grew
wide with excitement. Finally, here was my chance!
I had the option to study all kinds of cool subjects like
chemistry, physics, computer coding, creative writing, and more.
Do you know what I chose? Dinosaur Paleontology of course! A
whole week learning all about unearthing dinosaur bones and
