As an enthusiastic climber, I would make an annual trip to the peak of Mount of the
Holy year, my new partner Merle a young and athletic dog, climbed with
me. I hadn’t thought twice about taking Merle; actually,I expected him to beat me to
the peak.
Before setting off,I filled my backpack with bottled water, dry food,and-a can of
beef. Having put the collar(颈圈)-with his name and my phone number on Merle, I
started my big adventure with him. Several hours later, while we were rushing
towards the peak, Merle still seemed energetic and I also felt energized by the clear
mountain air.
When reaching the peak, I heard a short bark and thought Merle would be seconds
behind me. He was incredibly close to me and always followed me.I took a photo of
the view, called out to Merle, and headed back down the path. However, Merle was
nowhere to be seen.
“Merle! Merle!”I called. “Where are you?” I felt panic rising within me, as there was
no sign of him.
Then I saw something moving in the basin below. It was Merle! After nearly an hour,
I made it to the basin and saw Merle standing on a large rock. A feeling of relief
washed over me. Soon, I was close enough to see that his legs were badly injured.
When I was within a few feet of him, he dived into a crack(缝隙) at the edge of rocks.
I immediately struggled to clear snow and rocks but could only stick my head in the
crack. Seeing nothing in the darkness, I just heard the jingle of Merle’s collar. I yelled.
No response. Then I went to the scene of the fall and saw the path Merle had taken.
He’d slid about 700 feet down the upper snowfield, fallen off a 40-foot cliff(峭
壁),and then rolled down another 100-foot cliff to the lower snowfield. “Merle may
be on the edge of death,”I said to myself.
Paragraph 1: I returned to the crack and called Merle again.
Paragraph 2: Three weeks later, I received a call claiming to have found Merle.
Merle
Merle
动作描写(filled my backpack with, put the collar……;rushing towards the
peak;headed back;dived into; struggled to clear snow and rocks;stick my
head in the crack;yelled;slid; fallen off;rolled down)
心理描写:(feel energetic; felt panic rising inside me ;a feeling of relief
rushed over me)
环境描写:(clear mountain;basin below;a large rock; 700 feet down the
upper snowfield; a 40-foot cliff;another 100-foot cliff;the lower
snowfield)
Merle
I returned to the crack and called Merle again. Still no response. I opened the can
of beef and left it at the mouth of the crack to attract Merle, but in vain. I spent
another hour crouching outside until the jingle of the collar stopped. At that moment,I
thought Merle might have died, so I blamed myself for that. If only I hadn’t taken
Merle with me! After a while the sun was setting, and I had to leave the crack and
go home.
Three weeks later, I received a call claiming to have
found Merle. Though I
couldn’t believe my ears,I immediately rushed into my car to pick him
I heard the familiar bark, I knew my “lost”friend was back. Upon seeing him, I
gently touched his skinny body. He wagged his tail and licked my the next
week, Merle recovered well. I now firmly believe there is a close bond between
Merle and me.
