Sinogastromyzonsichangensis,belongingtothefamilyBalitoridaeinCypriniformes,isendemic

study,thecompletemitochondrial

gensisissimilartothoseofthetypicalvertebrates,16,567bpinlength,

including13protein-codinggenes,tworibosomalRNAgenes,22transferRNAgenesandone

non-codingcontrolregion(D-loop).gensiswascharacterizedbyone

termination-associatedsequenceandsevenconservedsequenceblocks(CSB-F,CSB-E,CSB-D,

CSB-BandCSBI-III).gensiscouldcontributetoestimate

rinvestigationswithmore

Sinogastromyzonspeciesandotherbalitoridfishesincludedshouldbeperformedtobetter

understandtheevolutionaryhistoryofthisuniquegroupoffisheswhichcansuccessfullyadapt

tomountaintorrents.

TheBalitoridae(referringtohillstreamloaches)isauniquegroup

ofCypriniformes,theirpairedfinsenlargedwithadhesivepadson

ventralsurface,whichmakethembesuccessfullyadaptiveto

tlyonlyfivebalitoridspeciesmitogen-

omesaresequenced,withonespeciesSinogastromyzonpuliensis

fromSinogastromyzon,thegenuswhichhas21validspecies

describedsofar(Froese&Pauly,2013).Thespecies

Sinogastromyzonsichangensis(Cypriniformes,Balitoridae)is

endemictotheUpperYangtzeRiverandtheQingRiver(Yue,

2000).Inthisstudy,wesequencedthecompletemitochondrial

gensiswiththeGenBankaccessionnumber

gensisindividualswerecollected

fromGuizhouprovinceofChina.

gensismitogenomesequencewas

16,567bpinlength,andwascomposedof13protein-coding

genes(cytb,ATP6,ATP8,COI-III,ND1-6andND4L),tworRNA

genes(12Sand16SrRNA),22tRNAgenesandonenon-coding

controlregion(CR),mostofwhichwereencodedontheH-strand,

revertedandcomplementedsequence‘‘ATGTA’’couldbe

found;fourcentralconservedsequences(CSB-F,CSB-E,CSB-

BandCSB-D)werealsoidentifiedbyfollowingLiu(2002);three

conservedsequenceblocks(CSBI–III)couldbeeasilyidentified,

whichwerethoughttobeinvolvedinpositioningRNA

polymerasebothfortranscriptionandforprimingreplication

(Clayton,1991;Shadel&Clayton,1997).

Currentlysomedetailedstudiesonthegenus

Sinogastromyzon’staxonomyandbiologyhavebeencarriedout,

MitochondrialDNA,2015;26(6):859–860

butmanyotheraspectssuchasgeneticsandmolecular

rkprovides

fundamentaldataforfurtherphylogeography,populationgenetics,

andconversationgeneticsstudiesonthisbalitoridspecies.
